The Story
The Vision Behind This Project
The Challenge
This Fairfax, Virginia home underwent a comprehensive kitchen and interior circulation update focused on modernizing finishes and improving safety. The project included complete kitchen renovation with luxury vinyl tile flooring in Beauflor Parkway Pro Clic Gunstock finish, custom ceramic tile backsplash installation, and drywall repairs to correct existing imperfections. The scope extended beyond the kitchen to address aging railings throughout the home's main living spaces, replacing outdated handrails and safety barriers with contemporary metal railings at the kitchen step-down to living room, entry foyer stairs, and formal living room transition.

Kitchen
Designed around a striking interplay of depth and texture, the Olley Lane kitchen anchors its aesthetic in Stonebridge maple cabinetry finished in Black with the classic Evanston door style from the Hampshire collection — a combination that brings quiet drama to the heart of the home. Hardware throughout is sourced from Top Knobs' Chareau Collection: the Reeded 1-1/4" mushroom knobs in brushed satin nickel add a tactile, artisanal detail that complements the cabinetry's bold finish without competing with it. A custom ceramic tile backsplash introduces handcrafted character to the walls, while Beauflor Parkway Pro Clic luxury vinyl tile flooring in Gunstock grounds the space with warmth underfoot — a practical yet polished choice that bridges the kitchen's darker palette with natural wood tones. Tying the space seamlessly to the surrounding living areas, custom metal railings with professional staining carry the design language through the kitchen step-down, entry stairs, and formal living room transition, giving the entire main level a cohesive, intentional finish.
