The Story
The Vision Behind This Project
The Challenge
This comprehensive whole-home remodeling project in Arlington, VA transformed multiple levels of a residential property with a focus on kitchen modernization, improved flow, and enhanced finishes throughout. The main level underwent significant reconfiguration, including a complete kitchen renovation with new custom cabinetry, a redesigned breakfast nook with built-in window storage bench, and the addition of an elegant wet bar with media capabilities and charging station. The kitchen pantry was reframed, and a new stair railing system featuring box-style newel posts, stain-grade handrail, and painted balusters was installed. The project also included the addition of a custom fireplace with stone hearth, tile surround, and new gas line and electrical service.

Kitchen & Bar Area
Designed to blend everyday functionality with considered craftsmanship, the bar area anchors the space with semi-custom all-plywood cabinetry featuring full overlay fronts, dovetail drawer construction, and full-extension soft-close glides — the kind of detail you feel every time you open a drawer. A dedicated sink and faucet pair with an integrated filtered hot and cold water dispenser, making the bar as practical as it is polished. The cabinetry is finished in a custom paint color that carries through to the kitchen, unified further by decorative box moulding and wallpaper that draw a seamless visual line between the two spaces.
Breakfast Nook
The breakfast nook is given its own moment through wide-panel millwork that adds depth and architectural character to what might otherwise be a transitional corner of the home. It's a quiet, well-crafted detail that rewards a second look.
Fireplace
The fireplace surround is finished in custom tile with a stone hearth — a grounding combination that brings warmth and texture to the main living area without competing with the surrounding finishes.
Flooring & Stairs
Underfoot, the main level is unified by red oak 2¼-inch unfinished hardwood, professionally sanded and finished in place for a seamless, continuous result that extends through the stairs and risers. The stair system is detailed with a stain-grade handrail, box-style newel posts, and painted balusters — a classic combination that feels both refined and residential. On the second level, the same red oak hardwood continues into the hallway and laundry closet, while the master bedroom and walk-in closet transition to carpet and pad for a softer, more restful feel.
Millwork & Built-Ins
Throughout the home, custom paint-grade built-ins and trim work reinforce a cohesive design language — one where every transition, corner, and edge has been thoughtfully resolved.
