The Story
The Vision Behind This Project
The Challenge
This Arlington home underwent a thoughtful transformation with a full kitchen addition and mudroom — a project designed from the ground up to give the home both the space and the function it had long outgrown. MOSS Building & Design demolished the existing rear masonry wall, installed a structural steel beam, and dug new pier footings to support an approximately 10×20-foot addition that sits flush with the main level floor. The new structure was fully framed, insulated, and finished with vinyl siding and architectural roof shingles, with new gutters and downspouts extending across the existing roofline as well. A sliding glass door opens the addition to a new brushed-finish concrete patio, while a new exterior door and four vinyl windows bring natural light deep into the expanded kitchen.

Kitchen The kitchen was designed around the rhythm of daily life — equal parts beautiful and hardworking. Cabinetry anchors the space, running through the perimeter and island, with cabinet hardware in the BP36767CZ finish from Ferguson adding a cohesive, refined accent throughout. The countertops were selected to complement the cabinetry, and a tiled backsplash brings texture and visual depth to the cooking wall. At the sink, the RVH8303 undermount sink from Ferguson is paired with the 64043LF-GL faucet in a striking golden luster finish — also from Ferguson — alongside a coordinating RP79275GL soap dispenser and 69080-GL air switch trim, both in the same warm tone. A 76696A-ISE air switch and garbage disposal complete the sink station. The appliance suite — cooktop, wall oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and hood — was homeowner-selected and installed as a fully integrated package, with the hood connected to new dedicated ducting. Pendant lights over the island and ten recessed lights throughout the space, supplemented by under-cabinet lighting, ensure the kitchen is as well-lit as it is well-appointed.
