The Story
The Vision Behind This Project
The Challenge
The N Illinois Street project encompassed a comprehensive whole-home remodel and addition, touching nearly every system and surface of the residence. MOSS Building & Design managed the full scope from the ground up — including excavation, new footings, concrete slab work, block and brick construction, and complete structural framing — before turning attention to the interior finishes that would define each living space. New windows and exterior doors, fresh siding, roofing, and insulation brought the building envelope up to current standards, while a screened porch extension added meaningful outdoor living space to the home.

Kitchen The kitchen strikes a balance between function and considered detail. Countertops were selected with radius corners on the island, softening the geometry of the space and lending a more tailored, furniture-like quality to the work surface. The plumbing package includes a kitchen sink, a primary kitchen faucet, and a coordinating side-spray faucet — a practical trio that keeps the sink area both hardworking and cohesive.
Powder Room A vanity with an integrated Kohler K-20000-0 undermount sink anchors the powder room, paired with a dedicated vanity faucet for a clean, finished look. The toilet is an American Standard 215CA004.020 sourced through Ferguson, fitted with a matching 5321A65CT.020 toilet seat. Accessories — a paper holder, towel ring, and mirror — complete the space with quiet consistency, each selected to complement the vanity without competing with it.
General Spaces [grouped without explicit room labels — review] A ceiling fan with a coordinating remote control was selected for one or more rooms throughout the home, providing year-round comfort with straightforward operation. Tax and freight for plumbing fixtures were accounted for within the plumbing fixture allowance.
