The Vision Behind This Project
This comprehensive carport-to-garage conversion project in Alexandria, VA transformed an existing open carport into a fully functional two-car garage. The scope included demolition of the existing carport structure, installation of continuous footings and a new concrete slab, and construction of an approximately 26' x 24' enclosed garage space. The project retained the existing roof structure while adding approximately 4 feet toward the side yard and incorporating a new gable feature on the front elevation to mirror the existing house architecture. The work encompassed complete framing of new walls, installation of brick veneer on the front wall with vinyl siding on side and rear walls, replacement of siding on three gable ends of the house, and relocation of the electric meter to accommodate the new structure.

KITCHEN
The kitchen showcases Indian Impala Black Leathered granite countertops that provide a sophisticated, textured finish. Custom cabinetry was coordinated directly with Richards. The existing appliance suite—including refrigerator, stove/oven/range, microwave, and dishwasher—was retained and integrated into the new design. A BADGER5XP ¾ hp garbage disposal by Insinkerator with pneumatic air switch was installed. The homeowner selected and provided both the kitchen faucet and sink to personalize the space.
NEW BATHROOM
This bathroom features a custom double-bowl vanity coordinated directly with Richards, topped with a vanity countertop provided by the homeowner from their preferred retailer. The Moen Voss collection was selected throughout in chrome finish, including a single-lever high-arch faucet, shower valve and trim, square shower drain, tissue holder, and 24" towel bar for a unified, contemporary aesthetic. A Kohler Cimarron toilet in white completes the fixtures package. The Nuvo Parker 3-light vanity fixture in chrome provides elegant illumination. Custom tile selections were specified per attached documentation. The homeowner personally selected the vanity mirror to complement the overall design.
