The Challenge

This comprehensive residential remodeling project in McLean, VA transformed a mid-century modern home through extensive interior renovations and exterior updates.

The Approach

The scope included complete demolition and reconstruction of the kitchen, master bathroom, master bedroom, living areas, and utility spaces, along with significant exterior work including removal of the existing mansard overhang, installation of new siding and trim with elastomeric finish on exterior block, and construction of new front porch roofs with seamless aluminum gutters. The project incorporated modern skylights with remote controls, a complete HVAC system replacement with a new 14-SEER heat pump unit featuring painted exposed ductwork in main living areas, and installation of energy-efficient Pella Encompass series windows throughout.

The Result

The interior transformation featured custom cabinetry with dovetail drawers and soft-close mechanisms, granite countertops, modern plumbing fixtures, and a new gas fireplace installation. All work was completed to code with comprehensive electrical upgrades including a new panel, extensive drywall and insulation work for sound dampening, custom interior trim and doors, and professional painting throughout. The project utilized advanced waterproofing systems including WEDI shower wall systems in bathrooms and moisture vapor barriers under flooring, ensuring long-term durability and performance of all finished spaces.
