The Story
The Vision Behind This Project
MOSS Building & Design completed a comprehensive residential addition project in Vienna, VA, expanding the living space of an existing home. The project began with detailed design development, including conceptual design planning and professional 3D rendering services to help visualize the proposed addition before construction. Following client approval of the design concept, the team proceeded with creating detailed permit drawings and navigating the submission process through local building authorities to ensure full compliance with Vienna's building codes and zoning requirements.

Garage & Exterior
Designed to feel like a natural extension of the existing home rather than an addition, the exterior finishes on this Vienna project were chosen with architectural continuity at the forefront. James Hardie lap siding in Pearl Gray mirrors the current cladding, ensuring the new structure reads as a seamless part of the whole. The garage door is a Clopay 9133 series 16x7 overhead door — a three-layer, polyurethane-insulated panel (R-Value 12.9) finished in a long panel profile with prairie-style glass accents that bring in natural light while adding quiet curb appeal. Access is handled by a LiftMaster 1/2 HP belt-drive opener, complete with wall station, safety sensors, remote controls, and keyless entry for everyday convenience. Inside the garage, a fire-rated entry door with a classic 2-panel raised design echoes the home's existing interior doors, while the side entry door's half-lite configuration — clear glass framed by prairie-style grilles between the panes — carries the same considered aesthetic through to the addition's exterior transitions.
